Plantronics Reshapes Mobile Headset Category with Groundbreaking Product Design and Innovation
Radical new MX100 headset is a fusion of style and technology
SANTA CRUZ, CA - August 5, 2002 – Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE: PLT) is reshaping the communications headset market today with the introduction of the MX100 mobile communications headset. Combining breakthrough advances in style, comfort and sound, Plantronics has created the “must have” mobile communications accessory.
With the introduction of its patent-pending Flex Grip™ design, Plantronics has literally reshaped the traditional earbud headset. Flex Grip™ is a small, flexible rubber tail that rests comfortably and securely behind the ear. This discreet design makes the Plantronics MX100 headset so stable and comfortable it can be worn all day – even during extreme activities such as skateboarding and cycling.
“The MX100 is designed for youth by youth; it connects with their active lifestyles,” said Libby Walikis, product manager for the Plantronics MX100. “We sought their input in the development of the MX100. This influence is clearly seen in the form factor and style of this groundbreaking headset. It’s also reflected in the interchangeable color covers of metallic green, blue and graphite, so it can be customized to individual taste.”
The new Plantronics MX100 headset doesn’t just look great, it sounds great as well. It includes Plantronics AcuSpeak™ technology, incorporating some of the most advanced sound quality and microphone technology in the world.
“More than 67 million youth in the U.S. and Europe will be using cellular technology in 20021,” said Joyce Shimizu, president of Plantronics Mobile Communications Division. “A market of this magnitude demands products tailored to its specific needs and desires. The new Plantronics MX100 is just that product. It is a landmark in the design and technology of personal communications headsets. It represents a fusion between style and technology that moves headsets into the realm of the personal accessory.”

The Plantronics MX100 mobile headset will be available nationwide in mid-August with an estimated U.S. retail price of $24.99.
