Plantronics BackBeat 500 Series joins the array of Plantronics middle-range headphones. Considering the success of Plantronics' high-end rendition of BackBeat Pro 2, audiophiles expect at-par quality at a fraction of the cost. There is no release date yet for BackBeat 500 but expect reviews to trickle down once it unleashes.

To start with, the Plantronics BackBeat 500 is capable of receiving Bluetooth signal up to a 10-meter range. It is compatible with any smartphone or audio devices with Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. A maximum of 8 devices can be paired with this headset, with a capability of connecting 2 of them simultaneously, according to GlobeNewswire. Plantronics also shares how Bluetooth setup was streamlined and pairing devices are easier than ever. But for those who want to ensure uninterrupted audio experience, BackBeat 500 comes with audio 3.5 mm jack.

When battery life is the criterion, Plantronics BackBeat 500 will definitely set the bar into a whole new level. Not only that this headphone can operate up to 18 hours when fully charged, BackBeat 500 also features DeepSleep hibernation mode so that battery charge can stay up to 6 months, TheNextWeb reported. This feature is particularly helpful for those who left out their headphone but need to use them immediately upon return.

For functionality, think of 40 mm drivers coupled with bass tube design that can deliver crisp and rich sound. Plantronics BackBeat 500 boasts its memory foam ear cushions that isolate sounds. Further, users can access calls or music through on-ear controls. Speaking of calls, BackBeat 500 has a wideband-enabled mic that is compatible with most digital assistants like Cortana, Google Now and Siri.

Meanwhile, Plantronics promises that BackBeat 500 is going to be lightweight both literally and in the pocket. But then, Plantronics did not compromise its durability. Users can also swivel its ear cups for easy storage.

Lastly, Plantronics BackBeat 500 pegged its price at $79.99. Comparably, the BackBeat Pro retails at $250. Of course, it can be argued that BackBeat 500 is still not cheap but take into consideration that it is a third of the price of its Pro variant.
