Plantronics Demonstrates New Bluetooth Technology that Works with Mobile and Office Phones
New Concept Simplifies Communication with One Headset for Multiple Uses
SAN DIEGO, CA - DEMOmobile 2004 – September 10, 2004 – At DEMOmobile 2004, Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE: PLT) is demonstrating publicly for the first time a next-generation technology concept that will enable users to easily and seamlessly switch between their mobile phone, office phone, laptop and other Bluetooth devices. Mobile professionals will be able to use one wireless headset to communicate throughout their day wherever they are – in the office, on the road or on the go.
“Headsets have become a necessity for mobile professionals, but they’ve had to contend with multiple headsets, wires and adapters. Plantronics is applying its industry-leading market knowledge and the newest technologies to simplify people’s lives – soon you’ll need only one headset wherever you go,” said Mark Breier, chief marketing officer for Plantronics.
“When workers can use a single device to communicate via their phone, PDA or
laptop — both in the office and on the road — the distinction between mobile and office-based workers fades,” said Chris Shipley, Executive Producer of the DEMO Conferences. “Plantronics’ new Bluetooth technology will help workers move easily among a wide range of devices, and in doing so, allow them to wirelessly communicate from essentially anywhere.”
Plantronics is showcasing its new Bluetooth concept onstage at the conference, and is featuring a full range of headset solutions in the Demonstrator Pavilion, booth #8.
Plantronics is also introducing the MX300, its new mobile headset that features a retractable cord and patent-pending wind noise reduction technology. The MX300’s unique RetractPro™ automatic cord winder eliminates tangled cords and increases mobility by allowing users to easily extend the cord when the headset is needed or retract it with the touch of a button.
The new product’s patent-pending WindSmart™ technology uses a specially designed material over the microphone that diffuses noise for crisp, clear conversations even in windy environments – such as in the car or on the street. Plantronics’ award-winning Flex Grip® design is employed in the MX300 to provide an exceptionally comfortable, stable, yet discreet fit, making it an ideal headset for active mobile phone users. The MX300 will be available worldwide in October 2004.
