Plantronics Launches New Brand Identity, Delivers “Sound Innovation” From the Moon to the Masses

Plantronics Introduces New Logo, Ad Campaign and Space Trip Promotion

New York, NY and Santa Cruz, Calif. - July 20, 2005 – Plantronics, Inc. (NYSE: PLT) unveiled today, on the 36-year anniversary of the moon landing, the company’s new brand identity and national advertising campaign. Plantronics’ new corporate logo and tagline, sound innovation, highlight its role as the headset used by Neil Armstrong in the historic, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind” transmission from the moon in 1969, and reinforces its leadership position in developing headsets for home, mobile, and office use.

“Thirty-six years ago our company focused on creating the most reliable, highest quality headsets for NASA and other mission critical organizations to use,” said Mark Breier, chief marketing officer, Plantronics. “Today, we retain that same focus on reliability and quality, but apply it to a much broader audience seeking greater productivity, ease of use and a sense of style as well. Our line of wireless headsets delivers on all three.”

We’ve Been to Space, Now You Can Too!
Plantronics also launched today the “Plantronics to Space and Beyond” promotion that offers consumers a chance to win a seat on board one of the first commercial flights to space. In addition, hundreds of prizes, including a zero-gravity flight, will be given out through weekly, monthly and annual drawings. To learn more and enter the “Plantronics to Space and Beyond” promotion, people can visit: www.plantronics.com or text “headset” to SPACE (77223) to enter. Please see the promotion rules for full details.

Plantronics’ new advertising campaign highlights the company’s role during NASA’s moon landing program and its leadership in other mission-critical applications, such as air traffic control, 911 dispatch, and the New York Stock Exchange. The campaign also demonstrates Plantronics’ commitment to sound innovation for every product it builds for the office, contact center, personal mobile, entertainment and residential markets.

The advertising campaign, developed by McCann Erickson Advertising, will have wide exposure, including spots on national television and in print and Internet outlets. TV ads will first appear in late summer on major cable networks. Print ads will appear in magazines such as Business2.0 and Fast Company.
